Citizens for Tax Justice
Citizens for Tax Justice is a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and advocacy organization dedicated to fair taxation at the federal, state, and local levels. It's studies, reports and press releases are particularly important ammunition for labor activists now as the Bush Administration makes a series of tax changes that largely benefit the rich. An excellent source but limited to the area of taxation.

Center for Policy Alternatives (CPA)
This is an excellent source for all kinds of information related largely to issues that come before the state legislatures. The site is well organized, easy to use and can provide factual information for such uses as letters to the editor or to legislators. It provides a powerful search engine on issues - for instance enter "drug prices" and you get summaries of 77 different studies and reports on the issue - all linked to complete reports. There is also a U.S. map of states. If you click on Maine you get a page of reports and studies specific to Maine. Founded in 1976, the Center for Policy Alternatives (CPA) is the nation’s leading nonpartisan progressive public policy and leadership development center serving state legislators, state policy organizations, and state grassroots leaders.
